Planned my baking/decorating grand finale with tried and tested cake recipes, and never-before decoration! Some inspired by the net, and lots improvised on the cake.

That’s Strawberry-Over-The-Top (strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting in a basket weave pattern, topped with giant strawberries coated in chocolate and ribboned with frosting) and Chocolate Folly (plain chocolate cake with chocolate frosting and white chocolate curls, framed by drunken pirouettes that refused to stand up straight). Both the recipes are in some of my older posts.

Suman was my trusty elf who did some of the decorating, photography, and even managed to cut both cakes into the right sizes for serving guests at the New Year’s bash, while I ‘pirouetted’ crazily around the house.

Tasted as awesome as they looked. One of my new year resolutions is to stop baking. Sad, but necessary.
